Scotia Music Academy
We are new to Scotia but we are a well established music school within the Capital District. In 2005 the Cady School of Music opened its doors at 819 Livingston Avenue in Albany, NY. With a modest beginning of 3 teachers and 13 students, the groundwork was laid for the hundreds of students that would start, continue, and finish their music education within our small, 4 room school.
In September of 2017, Guilderland Music Academy opened its doors at 1823 Western Avenue within the Westmere Plaza. As a continuation of the experience and reputation of the Cady School of Music in Albany, the new space offered 7 rooms, ample parking, and a convenient location for our students, and families. With student enrollment rocketing within our first 6 months in Guilderland, owner Bryan Cady decided to close the doors of the Albany studio after over 12 years at that location in January of 2018 and consolidate the two locations into one. In order to accommodate the increase in students at our Guilderland location, we expanded our studio space in April of 2019 and added 6 new rooms (bringing our total to 11), a new office space, teacher lounge, and new paint and carpeting throughout our school.
In March of 2020, We had enrolled close to 500 students in our Guilderland location. We realized that we were quickly running out of space again. After doing some searching, we found a perfect space, with a lot of potential, at 105 Mohawk Avenue in Scotia. After some minor preparations and a minor delay in opening due to the Covid Pandemic; we happily opened our doors for our first in person lesson at the Scotia Music Academy in July of 2020!
Our talented Faculty and Staff are dedicated to providing an amazing experience to the over 650 students we see across the studios per week from the moment you walk through our doors, to the time you take the stage, and beyond!
We look forward to seeing you soon and to helping our students grow into the musicians they want to be!

Whether a student is young, or young at heart, our faculty are very capable of meeting our students at whatever level and age they are.
Music is supposed to be FUN. It is meant to be a creative outlet and a means of self-expression. Students do have to learn the fundamentals of their instruments – proper technique, note reading, scales, etc. and there is certainly an expectation of coming prepared to play each week’s assignment(s). However, our teachers work to make even the basics fun for students to learn. Because at the end of the day, if we aren’t having fun making music, then we are doing it wrong!
We teach Guitar, Piano, Singing, Voice, Drums, Woodwinds, Brass, & Strings Lessons
